CMS
Content Management System

A Content Management System is a framework and system for managing electronic content. Content management systems are used mostly by organizations to allow their members to easily generate and post content to a central repository. The most common use for a CMS is to manage web content. For example intranet software, and wikis.

DMS
Document Management System
A document management system is a software system designed to track and store documents. These can be physical documents, electronic documents and files, or both. A DMS is a sub set of a records management system, where the DMS is focused on text based records. DMS is used mostly in reference to electronic document storage.

Sometimes interchangeable with CMS and Records Management Systems.

Currently several governments and corporations are funding research to develop standards for EMR.

Lab Information System

A Lab Information System is a software system for collecting and storing medical laboratory data. Some LISs can be used to track the history of lab samples, or to maintain workflow process. Some LIS use EMRs.

Records Management Software/System
RMS are the software and systems dedicated to Records Management. Digital Warehouse is a records management software system.

Note: RMS is also commonly used to denote Root Mean Squared, a statistics term.

Web Content Management System

WCMS is a Content Management Systems dedicated to web content. WCMSs allow users to generate web pages with out the need to understand HTML, and without worrying about the style of the website. The WCMS manages the style of the site and where and what users can add or modify.
